Meet Our awesome team!

Erin KAy

founder/guitar/piano/voice

Hi! My name is Erin. I LOVE making music! Sometimes I hear melodies in my head and I just have to run to my guitar or piano to bring them to life. I have written and performed on many stages all over the world sharing my songs! I even recorded music that you can find on spotify, youtube and Apple music. This inspired my dream to create a place where people can have fun learning music and collaborate with other musicians! I also can’t stop singing because it makes me so happy. Another thing that makes me happy is my favorite ice cream flavor - cookie dough!! and my favorite season- fall. This is when the sun is warm but the air is cool. I have two cute dogs who like to go for walks with me. The leaves crunch under our feet and I hear songs everywhere.

Jenn

Administrative Coordinator

Hi there! I'm Jenn.

I work at the front desk at The Sound Academy, which means I help keep all the music magic running smoothly, even if I’m not the one singing into the microphone!

I decided to join The Sound Academy because my son LOVES music, and I’ve seen how amazing it is when kids have a fun, supportive place to learn and grow as artists.

I help with schedules, welcome families with a big smile, and make sure everything is ready for students to shine. My favorite part? Watching young musicians grow braver, stronger, and more confident every single day.

I’m so happy to be part of a place where everyone gets their moment in the spotlight!

Hey!

My name is Cynthia. I’ve been making up songs and singing at the top of my lungs since I was a little kid. I love playing guitar and piano, and over the years I’ve written and recorded five albums and performed in all kinds of places.

I like to keep challenging myself to grow as a musician. One of the scariest (and bravest!) things I ever did was go to school to learn how to record music. I did it, and now I have a fun little studio set up in my house where I write and record songs between shows.

I love walking alongside young musicians — encouraging them to explore, grow, and feel proud of what they create.

My husband and I live on a ranch with cows, horses, cats, and dogs, so life is never boring. Music has always been my happy place, and I can’t wait to make some music with you.

KAitlynn

Violin/guitar/songwriting/mini music makers/voice

Hello!! My name is Kaitlynn and I love singing, playing, and making music! I enjoy learning to play all sorts of instruments but my favorites are violin and guitar. I think that being creative is so fun! I love music so much that I went to university (school for grownups) to become a better music teacher. I also love to paint , play basketball and go on road trips

Let's make some music together!

Gabe

Guitar/drums/rock band/sound tech/hip hop

Hi, I’m Gabe Voorhees, a lifelong musician who has spent years playing bass, electric and acoustic guitar, and drums. I’ve performed across a wide mix of styles: from worship teams and country groups, to heavy metal bands, and now a 90’s rock cover band (because who doesn’t love a little Nirvana or Pearl Jam?). I’m passionate about teaching because I believe music class should feel less like homework and more like band practice. My goal is always to help students discover their own sound, while having fun along the way. Outside of music, I’m usually in the great outdoors, hunting, fishing, or outnumbered by my eight dogs, who I like to call my “backup singers.” I also have a not-so-secret obsession with old Western movies. Black and white or colour, I’ve seen them all (more than once). Every Saturday morning is my Wild West tradition, and if I were born 150 years ago, I’d probably be the sheriff of a dusty frontier town… hopefully still with a guitar slung over my shoulder.

Fun facts:

• I can play everything from Johnny Cash to Metallica to Nirvana, sometimes in the same jam session.

• Every musician has a guilty pleasure… mine is singing along (badly) to cheesy 80’s ballads.

• Ask me about the time I tried to mix country twang with metal distortion — it actually kinda worked!

Daine

Guitar

Howdy! My name is Daine! Guitars are the instrument of choice for me! Electric or acoustic you name it! I’ve played since grade 3 and I’ve loved it since I started! I love music because it brings people together and can be shared with friends and loved ones! Other things I love are big loud trucks, hockey, basketball, and spending quality time with people of all ages! I moved to Drayton valley in May last year and my favourite thing about it is the wilderness around it! I love animals of all kinds (especially cows!! MOOOO) and love driving on random dirt roads and adventuring!

Lindsay

Guitar/songwriting

Hello! My name is Lindsay, and I am a singer-songwriter who tours across Western Canada sharing my original music. Music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember I started my journey singing Taylor Swift karaoke tracks at just eight years old (yes, I’m a proud OG Swiftie!). For me, the greatest joys in life are simple: a pen, a piece of paper, and a guitar….and a good cup of coffee. When I’m not writing or performing, you can find me curled up with my cat watching a romantic comedy, or spending time with my two beautiful children. I believe music is more than sound—it’s the pathway to the soul and one of the best kinds of medicine. My hope is to pass that love of music on to others and help them discover their own unique voice along the way.

DArcie

Piano/voice/bass

Hey there! I’m Darcie, and I love teaching music! I play piano, bass guitar, acoustic guitar, and sing—I’ve jammed in jazz bands, sung in choirs, and lived for those magical moments when music just makes you smile.

Whether we're grooving through a bass line, hitting high notes, or learning the basics, I love helping students find their unique sound. When I’m not teaching, you’ll find me hanging with my many (many!) dogs, hiking outside, or sipping my all-time favorite thing: morning coffee.

Can’t wait to make beautiful music with you!

Wallace

guitar/bass/banjo

Howdy!

I’m Wallace! I LOVE playing guitar and pretty much any instrument with strings on it! From guitar to bass to banjo (yeehaw!) I also enjoy writing my own music and singing along.

Whether you want to rock out, jam, or strum your very first song, I’m here to help you have fun and grow your skills.

When I’m not making music, I love spending time with my wife and daughter and playing with my two awesome dogs! I also like building things with my hands. I’m a carpenter and a plumber, so I know how to fix things and create cool stuff.
